From 1514 shorts submitted, the Selection Committee selected 86 that will compete for the $33,000 in prizes awarded by the Puerto Rico Film Commission. Countries with the largest participaton were: France (191), United States (161), Spain (119), Germany (102) and the United Kingdom (87). Countries absent from previous editions were present this year such as The Faroe Islands, Bolivia, Paraguay, El Salvador, Estonia, Palestine and Hong'Kong among others.
